My intention is to help you orient your wedding photos around your values, so your experience on the wedding day can be breathing a bit deeper, and enjoying each second that is presently in front of you, with your friends and family.

After years of experience, I now intentionally limit the number of weddings I take on each year so I can give the very best experience to everyone who I work with. My desire is to show up on your wedding day not as a stranger behind a camera, but as a friend. And this requires us knowing each other.

Capturing moments with emotion and genuine connection requires trust, relationship, and being comfortable with each other. Because of this, our friendship together begins long before the wedding day. It actually started with the first call we just had, and my hope is that it lasts long after your wedding day.

This doesn’t mean long checklists or meetings we need to have, but instead imagine conversations over wine (or zoom) about life and feeling comfortable to text anytime with questions, so that you are able to forget about the camera when the wedding day comes.

I’ve been documenting weddings for 8+ years and am happy to find myself in work that feels more like a calling than a job.

This job means something deeper to me than mere aesthetics ever could. It holds a significance that extends far beyond the surface of a beautiful photo. My purpose revolves around humanity—the understanding that every person on this earth matters and is unique. Your story holds value. And this life is more than pursuing a false sense of perfection.

What to expect in working with Ruthie:

Instead of having a wedding day full of long photography timelines, rushing from one thing to the next, my couples want freedom to design their day around what matters most to them. Space, time to breath, and time to make memories with friends and family.

You can rest assured that you are in good hands. I have documented weddings all over the country for many incredible couples over the years. I respect and understand that this is a big day for you and your family, and I want your memories preserved thoughtfully and intentionally.

One of the reasons all of my packages include on both film and digital photographs, is to allows the essence of your memories to be timeless heirlooms, that will age with grace for years to come. I am not concerned with keeping up with trends, instead I care about remembering the emotions of the moment.

Vulnerability is at the center of my work. You’re connection to one another, the way you hold each other’s hands so specifically to you, and the glance you catch from one another across a room, that can’t be posed. That is your real vulnerable relationship, I can’t manufacture that for you. However, I get to document each quietly subtle and plainly obvious display of love between the two of you. And relationship also matters between us too. So you can feel at ease, and trust I won’t invade your intimate moments and respect your memories.

Questions Anyone?

  • Documentary wedding photography means that I want to capture true memories over posing or manufacturing a moment. For example, the last thing I would is for you to look back at a photo and think “thats when Ruthie told me to do XYZ.” Instead, I would hope you would remember when your dad squeezed your hand right before the ceremony, and your grandmother’s massive hug when she sees you for the first time.

    We talk through your values and priorities around how you want to spend your time on your wedding day. Then based on those priorities, we can plan how little or much group photo time you would like. But outside of that formal group photo time, my awareness is fully on letting your day unfold naturally, unhindered.

  • My goal is that you and your partner can exhale and focus on each other on your big day. I want to fade into the background and let you experience the fullness of these incredible moments with each other and your friends and family. I will bring my ideas and suggestions to your day, but honestly, I’d rather you forget me. Your wedding day is about you and your spouse and the beautiful union you are creating together.

Next Steps:

01. Shoot me an Email

When you are ready to book, send me an email with your desired package to start the booking process.

02. Sign Contract

I’ll prepare your contract based on the package & services you are wanting to book. I’ll send over the contract which you can sign digitally.

03. Pay 50% Retainer

At the same time I send over the contract, I will also send over an invoice where you can pay online the 50% retainer with card.

04. You’re Booked!

Once you have signed the contract and paid the retainer, your date will be officially booked & reserved on my calendar! At this point you I hope you can take a big exhale :)

I will be in touch over the coming months to prepare for your wedding day!

What this will look like is a few meet ups to get to know each other, talk about your values/priorities, and make sure your feel at ease and comfortable heading into your wedding day. However, I don’t want this to feel like another thing on your checklist. So know, I am not going to be emailing weekly, or trying to create more tasks on your mile high list. If you need something, always text or email. And rest at ease knowing I’ll reach out at milestone points over the next few months to connect and prepare.
